How I fell in love with art?
From what I remember, I was interested in art when I was pretty small. Growing up in an Asian family, being an artist is not an ideal career. So I followed the career path my parents and society expected me to follow, picking a profession based on the subjects I scored better grades on. Somehow, this got me into engineering.
After a few years working in the engineering industry, I was exposed to a watercolor “paint with me” video on YouTube and felt very soothing. The other day, I grabbed myself some watercolor paints and paper. Yes, this was how I got my foot back into art.
Later on, I watched more and more art videos and tried out a few other art media, like alcohol markers, gauoche, ink. I also got an iPad so that I could try out digital painting. Although I still like watercolor the best, I’m comfortable in digital painting.
What a switch!?
Lately, I decided to switch my career, from engineering to art. When I first brought this up to my family and friends, most of them were worried and didn’t understand why. There were a few life-changing events happened to me in 2024, making me think about the meaning of life. I’d like to pursue a career that I enjoy.
